How Sunshine Party Rentals Was Born☀️❤️
My name is Jimela Reyes, founder of Sunshine Party Rentals Inc.
The idea came to me while planning my daughter Arabella’s first birthday. After struggling with infertility for seven years, celebrating her felt like a miracle. While preparing her party, I walked into a party rental showroom in Scarborough and suddenly thought, “I can do this.” I called my husband right away and said, “I know now what to do.” That was the beginning of Sunshine Party Rentals.
Growing up with entrepreneurial parents taught me that success doesn’t require a perfect start, just hard work and courage. My original dream was to become a doctor, but financial realities led me to Canada at 21, alone, determined to build a future. I became a nurse, knowing deep inside that business was always my true calling.
After Arabella’s first birthday. I spent two years researching, learning, watching videos, writing plans, and attending seminars. In 2017, I launched Sunshine Party Rentals from my backyard with 50 chairs and 10 tables, bootstrapped, no debt, just hustle and my husband’s full support.
By 2018, I moved into a small warehouse and found out I was pregnant again two weeks after signing the lease. Scary? Absolutely. But I trusted the process. I ironed linens until 2am, learned everything the hard way, and kept going.
I outgrew that space, expanded in 2019, survived the pandemic, and even launched another business, Sunshine Grocery, in 2021. In 2022, I took a leap into a much larger warehouse and began building a real team.
I’ve made countless mistakes, lost money, hired wrong people, faced tough customers but I never quit. I learned, adapted, and grew stronger every year.
Today, I still learn every season, but I love what I do: creating celebrations, serving families, and turning dreams into reality.
Entrepreneurship breaks you before it blesses you but when the breakthrough comes, it is all worth it.
Sunshine Party Rentals isn’t just a business name, it’s my story and was born from pain, faith, and persistence.
That after the storm, the Sunshine comes and I can’t wait to serve you all again next season.
